Why Did We Develop Gel Powder Instead of Ready-to-Use Gel?
Traditional installation gel is mostly water. Once mixed, it becomes very heavy, making international shipping expensive. In many cases, shipping costs can account for 30% or more of the total product cost.
As a factory-direct manufacturer, our goal is to reduce unnecessary costs and offer professional products at prices much closer to wholesale than traditional retail.
That's why we developed JEELE Installation Gel Powder.
Our concentrated formula is lightweight, easy to transport, and extremely cost-effective.
Using only 1–2 g (0.035–0.07 oz) of powder, you can make 1 gallon (4 L) of professional installation gel.
In fact, many installation gels sold in Europe and North America are produced using gel powder supplied by our company.
What Is the Main Ingredient? Is It Safe?
The primary ingredient is a proprietary sodium polyacrylate polymer, developed by JEELE after years of research and protected by our patented formulation.
This material is widely used in products that come into direct contact with the human body, including:
- Cosmetics
- Facial masks
- Baby diapers
It is:
- Non-toxic
- Skin-safe
- Non-corrosive
- Alcohol-free
- pH neutral
It will not damage:
- Vehicle paint
- PPF adhesive
- Window tint adhesive
- Glass
- Rubber trim
Is Gel Difficult to Clean? Does It Behave Like Glue?
No.
Installation gel is not an adhesive.
It contains no sticky components.
Instead, it works by creating a lubricating water layer between the film and the surface.
This water layer:
- Creates temporary holding force through water pressure
- Allows the film to slide freely during positioning
- Makes squeegeeing much smoother
- Helps reduce installation scratches
After the water evaporates, the adhesive on the back of the film bonds permanently to the surface.
Since the gel is completely water-soluble, it can be easily removed using:
- Clean water
- A damp microfiber towel
If left to dry, it simply turns into a small amount of white powder.
For this reason, we recommend wiping away any remaining gel after installation.
Even if an entire 1 gallon (4 L) of gel dries completely, the remaining solid weighs only about 2 g (0.07 oz).
Therefore, even if a small amount enters body gaps or drainage channels, it will not clog them.
How to Mix Gel Powder
Making installation gel is extremely simple.
Standard Formula
- Add 1 scoop of powder
- Mix with 1 gallon (4 L) of water
- Stir until fully dissolved
It works very much like mixing powdered milk.
Need a thicker gel?
Simply add a little more powder.
Our powder already contains lubricating additives.
If you prefer even more slip, you can add a few drops of Johnson's Baby Wash (or another mild baby shampoo).
For bulk customers, we also provide professional slip-enhancing solutions free of charge.
How Long Can Mixed Gel Be Stored?
Since installation gel is water-based and contains organic ingredients, mold can develop if the mixing equipment is contaminated.
To maximize storage life, we recommend:
- Cleaning all containers and tools with alcohol before mixing
- Using clean water
- Storing the finished gel in a sealed container
In our laboratory testing, properly prepared gel remained usable for up to 90 days.
However, to ensure consistent performance, we recommend using mixed gel within 7–30 days.
For our 30-gallon (114 L) and 66-gallon (250 L) kits, we include a cosmetic-grade preservative at no additional cost.
After adding the preservative, the mixed gel can be stored for up to 12 months.
The dry gel powder itself can also be stored for 12 months when kept sealed and protected from moisture.
How to Use Installation Gel
Step 1
Clean the paint surface or glass thoroughly.
Step 2
Spray an even layer of gel onto the installation surface.
Step 3
Lightly spray a small amount of gel onto the adhesive side of the PPF or window tint to maintain lubrication.
Step 4
Position the film.
Step 5
Spray a small amount of gel onto the outer surface of the film to reduce friction and help prevent scratches while squeegeeing.
Step 6
Use a squeegee to remove the gel and water until the film is fully bonded.
Step 7
Rinse or wipe away any remaining gel around the edges.
As the water evaporates, the adhesive quickly regains its full bonding strength.
